footstepsLove with Skin On

“Mummy, I’m afraid! I’m afraid!” cried the little girl who was awakened in the middle of the night by the storm. The rain beating against the window frightened herl the lightning and thunder terrified her. “Mummy, where are you? Where are you?!” Her mother hurried into her room. She sat on the side of the bed and held her daughter tightly to comfort her. Wanting to take advantage of this teachable moment, she said “Darling, when you are frightened like this you can know that God is with you and loves you”. “Yes Mummy, I know that,” she sobbed “But I need love with skin on.”

You and I can give that “love with skin on”- individually we can’t do much, but together, we can make a difference!

Footsteps Ministry

Equipping committed and gifted lay people of our congregation to provide one-to-one pastoral care for the members/worshipers by:

  1. Providing appropriate support and service in times of special needs (spiritual stability).
  2. Helping people along the road to spiritual maturity (spiritual growth - Rom 12:15).

Who are the Footsteps Ministers?

  • The hands and feet of CrossCulture
  • Lay people who are prepared to enter into the joys and sorrows of other people
  • Caring Christian friends who really listen
  • People who have adopted a healing rather than curing paradigm of ministry
  • Who have received a minimum of 20 hours training

Why Footsteps Ministry?

Just as Eph 4:11-12 says that different people are equipped with different gifts, we want to equip the lay people for pastoral care of God's people.

What does a Footsteps Minister do after he/she has received training and equipping?

  • Visiting individuals by prior arrangement, in homes, long term care facilities, hospitals
  • Delivering flowers/food etc to those whom we know are experiencing difficulties
  • In conjunction with the church office sending service recording/Orders of Service
  • Visiting/Phoning/Emailing those unable to attend services
  • Develop preventative strategies of pastoral care rather than focus on crisis management & intervention.

What qualifies you to be a Footsteps Ministers?

If you have empathy, warmth, genuineness, integrity, a caring attitude, a listening ear, availability and the ability to encourage YOU CAN DO IT!!!

What can I do to join Footsteps Ministry?
